Day 18 Update #2 - October 30, 2013


So I just have to post a quick update since my post earlier today.  I finally was able to hold Logan for the first time tonight and it may have been the best feeling ever!!!  They allowed us to do it before feeding tonight at 8 and when we got there they had him all ready to go.  I was able to hold him for about 30 minutes although it seemed like it went by in a second.  Here are a couple of pictures, let's say I was a bit emotional but only because I was such a happy Mommy!!  Can't wait to do it again tomorrow!!!

    Melissa- you are the best and bravest mom EVER!!! I am so happy for you. I almost started crying myself when I saw your BEAUTIFUL photo of you and Logan together. Actually, I think I am crying. Oh well, congratulations on this milestone and know that we are so happy everything is going well for Logan. YOU are next on the improvement list! Thank you for finding time to update the blog.     Melissa, just to let you know that there are lots of thoughts and prayers coming from the UK too. Your Dad keeps me updated and it's normally the first thing we speak about when we have our calls every day (as well as me following this fantastic blog). These are the pictures I've really been looking forward to (you and Logan together) and there are a few tears being shed here in the UK too. I know you have some more stuff to go through so take care of yourself. Love, Julie xx

4 weeks old!! - November 8-9, 2013

4 weeks is so tiring!! Our little man is officially 4 weeks old now!  It is amazing how far he has come and how much he looks like a little baby now.  The past 4 weeks have definitely been hard ones but it is reassuring to see how far he has come and I know we still have a little ways to go but we have made great progress so far... Things continue to be pretty stable with Logan over the past couple of days, we are still on the nasal cannula and at level 7, so no big movement there.  We think that some of this has to do with the fact that he had to be intibated for so long, but the doctor is trying him on some diuretics to see if that may help as well.  He said there is a chance that there is some fluid in his lungs causing it to be a little harder for him to get stable on his breathing so fingers crossed that will work, it seemed to be a little better yesterday.  As of Thursday night he is weighing in at 4lbs 14.5oz so we are almost to 5 pounds....

Day 4 - October 16, 2013

Logan holding Daddy's finger! Another good day in the world of Logan!  The most exciting part of our day is that as of last night, they were able to totally ween Logan off his Dopamene (it was regulating his blood pressure) which in turn means Logan got his first meal this afternoon!!  They said that he took it really well and didn't have any spit up which was a great sign so hopefully this is just the beginning and we will be able to continue this going forward!  (now if only my milk will come in so I can feed him!) Besides that, the cardiologist came in again today and the PDA valve that I mentioned before still hasn't closed.  They are going to check it one more time on Friday and if there is still no progress they will try using medicine to close it.  We are hoping this will work but if not he will have to have a little procedure where they will go in through his back to manually close it off.   Logan's Home Away from Home! 17 months and lots of updates!!

Happy Boy!! First I want to say I am sorry it has been so long since my last update but I am going to try to find the time (somewhere between working full time, the doctors appts and traveling to see clients) to keep you all updated on Logan's Journey, as it is quite a unique one.  I have realized that this journey can be very lonely at times and that is my doing by not sharing as much as I could but hoping that this might be an outlet to get our story out there to the friends and family that love us so much and possibly anyone else going through the same thing.   My first birthday...the cake was more fun to smash than eat!! Anyways, so I guess I have a lot to update everyone on, so bare with me on this first post!  :)  Ever since the Infantile Spasms stopped in July, Logan has been seizure free...WOOHOO!!  He takes seizure medication twice a day to keep them at bay but from what we are able to tell they have stopped which is great news.  Sin...
