Days 22-24 - November 3-5, 2013
Logan has finally broken free and is now in his big boy crib and out in the world with everyone else!! :)
Such a good finger holder... |
When we were there on Sunday they were still working on weening him out of the isolette, they thought he was going to be out on his own by noon on Sunday but due to some new admittance and some other things going on they were a little behind in there timing, nothing that seemed to be Logan related though which was good and he still seemed to be regulating his temperature well.
They weighed him on Sunday night and he had gained 4 ounces and is now up to 4lb 9oz. This also meant that they would take his food up to 43cc's from the 39 he was at previously. Even at this higher amount of food it seems like he is tolerating it well with little to no residuals after every eating.
Check out my outfit Grandma got me! |
My visit with him on Monday may have been one of my favorites so far. He was very alert and I got to change him into some new clothes, change a diaper (and he peed on me for the first time, I think I am officially a mom now!), he was in the isolette but the top was off and the nurse let me help her move him into his big boy bed. It was just a lot of fun to get to be so involved in what he was doing and helping him out. It is also so nice to have him in regular clothes now. We had to go pick up some things for him as he needs onesies with snaps instead of zippers so the wires could hang out...who knew how hard that would be to find but we did find a couple so hopefully he should be good with clothes for a little while. I really think that him being in the big boy bed makes it so much easier to interact with him and just a lot of fun to be there, way better than looking through the glass.
I love being able to see everyone and hear everything... |
He got a neurology scan of his head on Monday morning however we are still waiting to hear back on the results. Chris had gone in to see Logan on Monday after work and they still weren't back, so hopefully those will come in soon and everything will be good. While Chris was there he said it seemed like Logan was really calm and peaceful while he was holding his hand...hopefully he is starting to get a little more used to our touch.
Today I went in at 11 to try and be there early enough to hold him before his 11:30 feeding and I lucked out...we got a good 30 min of kangaroo time...I am still not sure how he is doing with the being held thing, he would go from very low to very high on some of his readings and I really think that being touched that much stresses him out a bit but I think he really needs to get used to it because I have a feeling there are a lot of people out there that are looking forward to holding him! :) I got to change my first poopey diaper and got peed on AGAIN! I think I really need to work on this diaper changing thing...
He isn't making as much progress on his breathing as we would hope, he is still on the nasal cannula and on level 7. They also had to up his oxygen amount a little bit from the 21% but hopefully that will come back down. We did find out that in order to start the bottle feedings he has to be down to a level 2 on the cannula and as I mentioned before the most they will ween is 1 level every other day so we have a little while before that time. I was able to bring in his bouncer today and hopefully he will have a new place to hang out every now and then.
I had a request for some more videos so here is one from today of him sucking his fingers...I thought it was pretty cute!
One more day down and one day closer to him coming home!!
Logan....Grandma loves you so very much.
