A New Home - November 25-27, 2013
I am enjoying my change of scenery but this home thing sounds much better! |
We have officially made the move and Logan is now a resident of the Intermediate Care Unit! We were moved over on Tuesday morning and the nurse gave me a call around 9 letting me know he was there. Initially they wanted him as close to the nurses station as possible so when I got there he was bunking up with a little girl named Racquel (I later found out her Mom works in the same building as me...small world). It was definitely a little bit different and the first day I wasn't so sure about this new living situation however it is growing on me. The nurses are much busier as they now have 3 babies per nurse (instead of 2) but it is much more quiet and you have a little more privacy and freedom to do what you want with your baby which is nice. There are also a lot of the same nurses in the Intermediate area so at least a lot of the people that are so used to him and have seen him grow are still there to take care of him. As of this afternoon, Racquel has moved out and now Logan has his own suite (or room)...this part I think we can get used to!! Here is a video of our little buddy looking around and checking out his new digs...
On Monday there were a lot of changes going on for Logan now that Dr. Guttenberg was back on duty. We were moved up to 2 bottles per day, they lowered his nasal cannula to 1.5 and they have stopped the caffeine he was getting that is meant to help him breathe (now that he is a big boy). The first day on 2 bottles we didn't complete them totally but by the second day we had them down. So...today we are officially on 3 bottles and we have already taken 2 of the 3 and finished them...maybe if the 3rd goes well we will get to add another one tomorrow!! I do have to admit though that this is with the nurses feeding him, I can't quite get the whole thing down for him myself and usually need their help at the end but we do get it done. I guess at some point we will have to figure out how to do it but I want to let him have more practice with the pros.
Please, please can I go home soon?? |
Our eye doctor came back last night and said that everything looked great, so much so that we get to take a week off!! The drops are completely stopped at this point and the pressure is normal, all good news!! On another note, I think there is a good chance that we will hit 6 pounds by this weekend...Logan is now up to 5 pounds 13.6 ounces and has gained 2 ounces and an ounce over the last 2 days!!
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and know that we are thankful for all of our wonderful friends and family, including all of our friends friends and families friends, who are supporting us and praying for us during this process, thank you again!!

One more day down and one day (and 2 bottles) closer to him coming home!!
I love these sweet pictures. LBD makes grandmas heart melt.
