Day One...

Yesterday turned out to be quite the productive (and long) day but we are starting to move forward.  We had to be at the hospital at 9:45 to check in for the MRI, finally around 11 we were taken back and then around 12:15 they took Logan in for the procedure. Poor guy hadn't had anything to eat since 4:30 that morning so towards the end we had quite the angry little buddy on our hands but he was such a trooper. The MRI took about an hour and a half and they said he did a great job.

We can do it!!
Sleepy boy after MRI...
By this point we had missed our appt at the neurologists but luckily they were able to fit us in earlier so around 2:30 we headed that way (luckily it was only across the street from the hospital).  We met with one of the PA's there and they walked us through how to administer the shots.  We practiced on an orange which is supposed to be the most like human skin (in case you ever needed that piece of trivia)!  After Mommy and Daddy each practiced once it was time for the first shot of steroids to be given to our little man.  Mommy was up first so I got it all prepared but actually giving it sure was hard...we had to do a countdown and just go for it, they told us it is like a dart, to just go fast and deep to make sure you hit the muscle.  Lil man definitely is not a fan of the shots and it broke my heart making him cry but luckily it was over quickly and we know we are doing this for his own good...just wish I could explain that to him!!

While we were at the doctors office they had actually received the MRI results!!  The PA went over them with us and found that there was nothing new that they saw that could be causing the spasms, only thing they mentioned was the PVL which we had already known about.  We are still waiting on the blood tests to see if there is anything in there that may be the cause, but I am hoping that everything else comes back normal!!

Logan still had an episode last night after we got home and he was going to bed so I guess the steroids aren't instantaneous (one can hope right) but hopefully in the next couple of days they will be completely knocked out.  He does seem to be eating a little more and was a bit grumpy last night however I am not sure if that is steroids or just the lack of food and sleep he had yesterday.  Even though he was a bit grumpy I was able to get him to laugh and smile which has been in small doses but even just the little bit brightens this Mommy's day.  Here is a little clip of him laughing away yesterday!!

This morning before Daddy went into work we had to give him another shot (we will be doing them as close to 12 hours apart as we can) and it was Daddy's turn this time.  I am not sure if the holding down of Logan or the giving of the shot is worse but again, this time will pass and I know we are doing it for the right reason.  He did have another little episode this morning but it was smaller and shorter than most, hoping that might be a good sign.

Thanks to everyone for checking in on us yesterday and sorry if I didn't get back to you but it was a long day!  Today we head to the Neuro-Opthamologist to get his eyes checked out...another day another appointment but we are moving forward and making progress!!
