So this morning was a big day for us...we administered our LAST shot!! Through the course of this experience we have had to give our poor little man 43 shots and to know that we can now just enjoy our mornings without having that as a wake-up call is super exciting! It will be even more exciting if indeed the shots worked. We go back in on the 30th for his follow up EEG to see if the Hypsarrythmia is gone, we haven't seen / noticed any spasms since the second day of treatment so all fingers and toes are crossed and really praying that we can put this chapter behind us.
In my last post I hinted to the fact that there was something cool coming for Logan's helmet and we got it back yesterday and I couldn't be happier with the results!! When we found out that Logan would need a helmet I started doing some research on how to make this experience a little better for all of us (ok, who am I kidding, really for me!) and I found that there are people who will paint your helmets to make them look much cooler. You could paint them football helmets, super hero themes, Dr. Seuss themes or one that I particularly thought was cool was an Aviator theme. The aviator appealed to me for a couple of reasons but primarily because my Grandpa, Logan's Great Grandpa (who is still around and doing great) was a WWII bomber pilot (this was also the reason we decided to decorate his room in WWII planes). I had let Leigh (the artist) know about this and when she received his helmet on Tuesday morning she asked for a little more information. I sent over that he was in the 95th Bomber Group and that he flew B-17's during the war and from there what she did was truly amazing.

Check out the reflection in the goggles, so cool! |

Leigh found the seal for the 95th Bomber Group and added it to his helmet! |
|
The red feather is the symbol of the 95th! |
|
LOVE the bomber wings! |
|
Gotta have LBD on there!! |
And here is our little man in his helmet! He is still getting used to it, we are actually going back in today to have it checked out and make sure that it is fitted correctly but hopefully he will get used to it and it won't bother him too much over the next couple weeks / months.

Hi everyone!! |
Well that is all for now...please continue to keep us in your prayers especially as we get closer to the 30th...it is going to be a big day for the Douglas family and hopefully a good one at that!!!
Dude!!! That is THE COOLEST thing I've ever seen. I have tons of friends whose kids have worn these helmets but never ever seen anyone paint them. Oh my goodness how cool. One super cool little pilot buddy! I didn't realize his room was decorated in vintage planes - super neat. And praying as the 30th comes closer!!
ReplyDeleteI love the helmet....very cool. Good job mom!
