Going Home!!! I know I owe you all an update and so sorry it has taken me so long...I think we are just trying to get used to being back home and our new schedule and routine!  So...let me rewind and go back to where I left off on the last blog...Day 5! Day 5 was another good one for us...Logan and Mommy slept through the night with no one poking us or medicines being administered and we both woke up nice and rested.  We had therapy again at 10 and to say the hospital was quiet would be an understatement...since it was the 4th, we were the only people in the gym and they didn't even have the lights on for part of it.  Our poor therapist Brandi was the only one on duty and she seemed to be pulled in all sorts of directions.  We first went through our discharge orders, including what to expect, when we can take a bath (not soon enough!), prescriptions, etc...lots of information but all good stuff to get us on our way!  After that we did some more therapy, so...

Happy boy! We had a great day 4 with two full hour therapies in the morning and in the afternoon.  Our first therapy was at 10 and we headed down to meet with Rebecca, our therapist for the day.  We started off with some stretching which he was tolerating pretty well then we went right into putting on his AFOs and seeing if he could do some weight bearing for the first time.  He did great!  We then let him crawl over to the swing so we could work on some core strength and see how he did holding himself up while moving.  We did a couple of different types of swings, standing, kneeling, sitting on the edge and he did them all without any fussing, actually did them with lots of laughs.   After that we did a bit of catching and throwing on the peanut again to work on that core strength and stability. Mommy's love! After all the anticipation and worry about Day 3 we were pleasantly surprised when it ended up being our best day yet!  Logan slept great on Saturday night, no spasms and I think we all woke up rested and happy which was huge.  They came in around 6:30 and took out the epidural, he did it so quickly that Chris actually thinks he accidentally just pulled it out...however I think that was just how they do it, who knows??  We were also able to get off the vital machines, so that was one less thing we had connected to Logan...only thing left was the IV which they were keeping on to administer the antibiotics and some of his pain medicine.   At about 8:30 the PT's came in to teach us how to help Logie get out of bed and how we need to transfer him and carry him while he heals.  The main thing was that we really need to keep his back and hips in alignment and not allow for him to twist too much or to let his legs hang and pull on the back. ...

Silly boy! Well, unfortunately our hope for a peaceful night did not come true and we had a bit of a rough evening last night.  Logie was great all day on Day 1, never took a nap, but ended up falling asleep with Grandma's at about 9 while Mommy and Daddy grabbed some dinner. Thank goodness for Grandma's, we LOVE you!!! Thankfully, he slept soundly until about 12:30 when the back spasms started.  They came on slowly and started to intesify pretty quickly.  When we asked our nurse about it he said that this was very normal and they usually get worse before they get better so we went ahead and gave him some Valium which is supposed to make the symptoms a little better and to let him sleep better.  They continued on for about another hour or so, they were pretty small but very reminiscent of his old Infantile Spasms.  He would tense up his arms and pull them together and we could see on the heart monitor that his heart rate would go up to about 140+ so ...
